Should we use a different software than Unity? (I think telling him to switch could cause him to give up on the project though.)

Or anything at all in general that we can do to make our work flow better? If still not, is there a work around for my programmer with my pngs? or another image format? If not, can I open my animate pro in another program that will export this information to Unity? So my questions are: Can I make Animate Pro play nice with Unity and give my programmer the animation information he needs? I know that Harmony will work seamlessly with Unity, but who honestly has the money for that? It also can't open Animate Pro files from what I've read I have to send them to Toon Boom to be converted. He wants to me to export also with a tight bounding box around my characters, even if the character is moving in the x or y direction, and bring that information in Unity without him having to animate anything. I gave him png's, and he's complaining that there is no information linked to this format (ie center pivots, x and y coordinates, etc.) and that he, the programmer, is not artistically inclined enough to line all of my images up, and that it's a waste of his time to do so when he should be programming. When I made these Animate Pro files it didn't think anything about importing it into Unity I give him pictures, he makes game. We are creating a 2D game, but my programmer friend decided it would be in our best interest to use Unity. I created game animations with the software I was comfortable with (Toon boom Animate Pro), and didn't think anything of it. I'm very much hoping that I receive good news from this post! My friend and I are developing a game, and since this is our first game there of course MANY bumps in the road.
